ILLINOIS SPORTS BETTING WAGERS GROW TO $139.6M IN AUGUST

Illinois’ regulated sports betting market generated total wagers of $139.6m in August, its second full month of operation.

Total wagers soared by 165 per cent compared to the previous month’s $52.5m total due to a raft of new entrants into the market.

Seven sportsbooks were operational by the end of August compared to two in July, including three online sportsbooks. They generated online sports betting wagers of $123.6m during the month, with retail sports betting contributing wagers of $16.1m.

Churchill Downs Incorporated and Rush Street Gaming’s Rivers Casino Des Plaines continued to represent the bulk of the total with wagers of $117.7m, of which $106.3m was derived online via BetRivers.com.

The next biggest operator was Casino Queen and its partner DraftKings with wagers of $14.0m during the month, including $13.0m generated online.

Boyd Gaming’s Par-A-Dice Casino and FanDuel accounted for a further $4.2m in wagers, all from online.

Penn National Gaming’s Argosy Casino Alton generated wagers of $2.7m and Caesars Entertainment’s Grand Victoria Casino and William Hill $585,098.

Penn National Gaming’s Hollywood Casino Joliet contributed $325,599 in retail wagers, with Gaming & Leisure Properties’ Hollywood Casino Aurora, which is operated by Penn National, accounting for the remaining $167,062 in wagers during the month.
