New Hampshire legalises online lottery sales

New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu has signed into law legislation allowing lottery tickets to be sold online and via mobile devices.
The amendment to existing regulations of the sale of lottery tickets was included in H517 , an omnibus bill passed by both houses of the state legislature late last month.
This sees New Hampshire become the fifth US state to allow online lottery sales.
It permits the sale of lottery tickets via mobile applications or over the internet, with the New Hampshire Lottery Commission to introduce a number of new player protection controls.~
The lottery will have to introduce age verification solutions to block access and prevent sales to those aged 18 and under, such as having players register in person at a licensed lottery retailer.
Geolocation technology must also be used, to ensure all transactions are initiated and completed in the state’s borders.Players are to be given the option to set daily, weekly and monthly wagering limits, while a voluntary self-exclusion programme will also be added.
